Mr. George Bit Atanus was born in Rostov, Russia in 1918. He devoted his career to the development of Tehran. Early in his career, he became one of the first real estate developers for the affluent Elahiyeh district in northern Tehran, followed by his work in the Jordan district. From there, George expanded his work into other parts of Tehran, including designing and building of the beloved Shahr-e-Ziba residential area in western Tehran. In addition, George built the tallest residential building in Tehran at the time, the first of its kind. George’s exceptional talent extended into his private mansion, making it a popular attraction for diplomats in the area. Foreign diplomats were often invited to stay at George’s home, which also served as an embassy for Georgian diplomats. In addition to his devotion to real estate and development of Tehran, George became the first Iranian to import surveying instruments into the country and established his own surveying business in 1952.
Mr. Sergis Bit Atanus, George’s brother, equally shared his architectural passion and expertise and helped engineer various developments throughout Iran. In 1956, Sergis was selected to manage the development of the Aras Dam, located on the Aras River along the border of Azerbaijan and Iran. He worked closely with the Iranian Deputy Prime Minister, Safi Asfia, and the Deputy Chairman of the Soviet Council of Ministers, Mikhail Yefremov. Together, they were able to deliver a historic project. Sergis was later selected as project manager for Haft Ghandeh, the industrial manufacturing facility located in Ahvaz, Iran.
In 2000, George’s sons, Georges and Serge Bit Atanus, inherited the family empire. Following their father’s and uncle’s footsteps, they continued to invest in building exclusive skyscrapers in upscale Elahiyeh, including Minyatur, Mehrgan, Chenaran, and Arezu. Upon completion, the addition of the skyscrapers to the cityscape helped prices in the area increase substantially, resulting in an unprecedented economic boom throughout Tehran. Continuing a family tradition, Georges and Serge completed work on Iran's most luxurious residential skyscraper, which also can be found in Elahiyeh.
Emelon Bit Atanus, Georges’ son, is the founder of the Atanus Company. Growing up in his father’s office, Emelon spent most of his life immersed in the family’s business. Educated in the U.S., Emelon earned his Associate’s degree in Math & Science, with an emphasis in Engineering, before attending San Jose State University, where he earned his BS in Aerospace Engineering and MS in Engineering Management. Emelon has over six years of experience in project management in both construction and tech industries, including his time as an Engineering Project Manager at NASA. Emelon has always looked up to his family’s empire and how the 75-year-old legacy has grown and thrived throughout Iran. To keep that vision alive, Emelon founded the Atanus Company in 2020 and currently serves as its CEO, in doing so turning his family’s trade into a global influence. Specializing in engineering and construction development here in the U.S., the Atanus Company is committed to continue the proud tradition of luxury and excellence in the U.S.
